Organic & Fair Trade
BETEN develops since 2003 a programm of converting the cultivated surfaces in organic agriculture, in accordance with the European referential for the EEC and american for the NOP. The production sites are inspected and certified every year by ECOCERT.
The idea is to produce without using any pesticides, insecticides or synthetic fertilisers. But it does not mean «to wait that it grows without doing anything». Quite the opposit, as this philosophy is very carreful with the care to bring to the soil in order to secure its fertility. There are actually quite a few natural techniques such as composting or an intelligent rotation of the plants which enble to assure a sustainable use of the soil with draining them.
The notion of «productivity» but also of intrinsic quality of the products, of respect for the human health as well as for the environnement are understood as a whole. The method of transformation, the cleaning of the tools, the packaging, the storage, the condition of transport and of commercialisation are also checked every year. The office of BETEN in France is certified too, as well as our forwarding agent for a total transparency.
